Should Chevy rethink the TrailBlazer as a real SUV

I spotted a few old Hummer H3s while cruising through southern Georgia, and it got me wondering, what if Chevy brought back a truck-based TrailBlazer? It's more of a crossover now, and pricing's creeping up close to the Blazer. Ford's got the Bronco, Jeep has the Wrangler, and Chevy's Tracker is booming overseas. Where does the TrailBlazer really fit today?

I can't totally argue against your idea! I mean I got a new Trailblazer LT and I'm loving it, but that thought has definitely crossed my mind. The pricing is a good point, but for me, the Trailblazer still holds its own as a more budget-friendly option than the Blazer, and the better gas mileage was a huge selling point.

I think it's found its niche as the stylish, value-packed little sibling in the Chevy SUV family. It's a great little urban warrior, perfect for someone who wants the SUV look without the bigger size or bigger price tag. I'm all for them bringing back a more rugged version someday, but for now, I'm pretty happy with this modern crossover.

@tb_benj I get that, the current TrailBlazer is perfect for city life. Still, a truck-based version would give Chevy something to actually go toe-to-toe with the Bronco and Wrangler.

A truck based TrailBlazer with solid off road chops would fill a nice niche, especially for fans wanting something tougher but not full size, right now, it's caught between urban crossover and outdoor gear, which makes it hard to justify if you want real adventure

Chevy's TrailBlazer lost its soul by going crossover, it should've stayed a rugged truck to compete with Bronco and Wrangler. Softening it just lets competitors own the real off-road market while Chevy chases trends

I both see your points! The old-school TrailBlazer was a beast, and a modern, truck-based version would be awesome. You can definitely see a market for that, especially with how well the Bronco and Wrangler are doing. A "baby" Blazer or even a new Tracker-style TrailBlazer would be a home run for Chevy. The new TrailBlazer is a completely different class of car and it's carving out its own space. It's a great value and the fuel economy is a big win for a lot of people. It's more of a stylish, efficient urban cruiser than an off-road vehicle, and that's exactly what many buyers want. The price point and gas mileage alone make it a smart choice for a lot of folks looking for an SUV, even if it's not a true body-on-frame truck.
